The Babu Chalam Study Abroad Scholarship

OVERVIEW

UGA German alum Dr. Babu Chalum visits campus to establish a scholarship for studying abroad.

Dr. Babu Chalam is an alumnus of the Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies. He grew up in south Georgia, was a German/International Business major at UGA (1998-2003), during which time he spent a summer in Erlangen and a year in Heidelberg. After working for more than a year with various companies in the Czech Republic, he then went on to medical school, and is currently a physician practicing north of Seattle, Washington. Dr. Chalam still visits Germany every year and maintains a wide network of friends from his time abroad in Europe. By sponsoring a study abroad scholarship, he wishes to enable our German majors to have the same kinds of life-changing experiences in Germany he had.
