UGA-Heidelberg University International Student Exchange

Founded in 1386, Heidelberg University is Germany’s oldest university. It is a comprehensive research-oriented institution with a strong focus on interdisciplinary studies. Heidelberg University offers over 160 study programs in the humanities, the social sciences, law, natural sciences, and the life sciences, including medicine.

Program details

  • Winter semester October to March; Summer semester April to September
  • Mandatory Preparatory Language Course: September/March (4 weeks/80+ hours of instruction)

Eligibility Requirements

  • UGA student in good academic standing
  • German language proficiency matching GRMN 3010 level coursework
    • Students without GRMN 3010 language proficiency may be considered for the Heidelberg program if planning to enroll in full-time German language classes for international students and university classes in English.
    • Students who elect to take courses in English must take German language courses.
