Image: Graduates of the Germanic & Slavic Studies Class of 2020 and Department award winners were celebrated in a virtual ceremony on May 8th, via video conference. Students and their families were invited to the ceremony and the brief virtual reception that followed. Each graduating student was featured in a profile graphic that was shown as a faculty member shared memories, anecdotes, and future plans for each grad. Award winners were announced. The 2020 winners are: The Cecil B. Willcox Award for Outstanding German Student of the Year: Kathleen (Katie) Kish The Scott Sikes Award for Outstanding Russian Student of the Year: Andrea Conety Outstanding Teaching Assistant went to M.A. grad Aaron Krask The UGA Presidential Award of Excellence -- Matthew Goldenberg The American Council of Teachers of Russian Post-Secondary Russian Scholar Laureate Award and winner of a UGA Employee of the Year Award -- Meghan O'Keefe American Association of Teachers of German, Georgia Chapter's College Student of the Year -- Brandon Wyatt Congratulations to our graduates and award winners!
